Here I am there’s nothing I can see Nothing to hold or buoy me Is it a gift? Or just a curse First thing I remember as a child Amazing moonwalk in black and white They wouldn’t touch me afraid they’d see I will never know who gave me my name, where I was born, if I’m alone I want an answer only one, is there a difference? Here I am there’s nothing I can say I’m deep in blackthought My name is Walter, fifty years old And sinking under

Watching those faerie lights flying around my bed Tracing friendly forms The other kids in the orphanage cannot seem to see The one who’s watching me She flickers in the twilight Whisper in my ear many times Gently speaking simple lines A little rhyme… Tum - tum - tum - tumble down Stum - stum - stumble around Humble lost humble found Beg a penny leave a pound Never break this spell Thought I saw starry lights floating above my head Hazy like a dream At the playground the other kids are shouting along with me Away we hide and seek I can’t keep from singing Who’s that girl just leaving? Run to hide Still I hum the tune inside another time Just one last time… Tum - tum - tum - tumble down Stum - stum - stumble around Humble lost humble found Beg a penny leave a pound Never break this spell Never break this spell Tumble down Stum - stum - stumble around

Tie Breaker 04:12
This is the day yeah I’ve got to be ready Step it up show them what I can do Jacket on knot my tie I’m a killer Let’s go Walt gonna break it! This will change my life Hurry up! I can’t wait anymore Cause this will change my life Gonna do it (you can do it) this time Seven years make me jump like a monkey Wait in line now’s my time to break through This new design’s gonna turn all the lights green Gun it Walt Motor City! This will change my life Hurry up! I can’t wait anymore Cause this will change my life Gonna do it (you can do it) this time On this day Fortune smiles upon me And I will walk on high Supermodels at my side And the world shall know my name This will change my life Hurry up! I can’t wait anymore Cause I will change my whole damn life I can do it (gonna do it) this time Hurry up! Gonna do it this time I can do it I’m wrapping up sealing the deal like a winner Here come the boss he got a smile on his face Walk up to me “Congratulations, put ‘er there boy!” I feel the pressure going up in my head This can’t be happening now not again no Oh my lord oh yes he’s seeing it too Just touch my hand and all the barriers fall down Now he and I both know the way he’s gonna…… (YOU’RE FIRED!)

Every night after work when I wander back home Lie on the sofa watching the lights A bottle of whiskey a half filled glass Stare out the window brace for a fight Will I hear her sobbing in the space above? The sound of the struggle freezes my blood Then I feel through the floor dark vibrations Climb up the old steps and tap on the door Nobody answers no one’s there Nobody’s living at the top of the stairs In the hall when we pass by, the light of the day I replay the words, I never could say She’s barely concealed with her upturned coat The black and blue circles ringing her throat Changing my mind I turn back on my heels Stretching a hand in the hope she can feel But the lines of her face show no reaction Fading away she just drifts through the door Nobody answers no one’s there Nobody’s living at the top of the stairs Whenever I reach out she disappears Nobody answers a ghost cannot hear Night after night I spend watching the cars In this hole underground boxed in alone Home I keep drinking ’til the pictures stop Let me lie sleeping endings unknown Like the film on a window that filters the light Her stark vision haunts all the days of my life Nobody answers... I might have saved her if I’d only dared A touch on her shoulder a touch anywhere She could have seen how the curtain would fall Now nobody answers there’s no one No one at all A bottle of whiskey and an empty glass…

Oh after the dream subsides The colors remain burned on my eyes Look at the crumbling city outside But I have a vision, a faithful guide I paint the beauty, the view inside I’m floating on endless sky Cerulean shell eases my mind Face in the clouds only I recognize Hovering over the velvet white Dreaming with angels, the view inside Life can turn on a dime leave you wondering why it went wrong Simple word in my ear I forgot how to hear and it’s gone Could I quit these four walls I would undo it all But to paint in this sweet isolation’s the price of my pride So dreams be my guide Oh after the dream subsides The image remains burned on my mind Here in this room I’m content to reside Follow my vision, my faithful guide Safe in the beauty, the view inside Trust in my perfect unerring guide I paint the colors, the view inside Trust in my vision, my faithful guide I paint the beauty, the view inside

Flashback 04:18
I read on a piece of paper Written for me ten years later Someone knocked upon my door Left it lying on the floor Strange words about my future About my son about my daughter But I ain’t got a family No one living here but me I reach for a glass of water But standing up my balance falters No capacity to feel As if nothing here is real Lie down on the floor I Try my best to visualize What my life was like before I heard that knocking on my door Flash back can you recall? You’re not really here at all Look past the scene before your eyes It’s just a flashback in disguise I read in the morning paper About a man named Arnold Slater Woke up from a ten year dream To find his life had never been This story it’s so familiar But that’s not me my name is Walter! I don’t know who is who If one and one are even two Flash back can you recall? You’re not really here at all Look past the scene before your eyes It’s just a flashback in disguise Flash back can you recall? You’re not really here at all Look past the scene before your eyes It’s just a flashback recognize…

Gone crazy I lose control Of my body and of my soul I refuse, this cannot be The walls are falling down around me I feel a certain euphoric fire Nobody can cut my wire Come close my friend And we’ll behold your flaming end Keep in touch… Salutations how’s it going And would you like to die this morning? What’s your fancy front or back Bullet brain or heart attack? Do you want to know your fate? Well sorry bud, but it’s too late Ran out of time Embrace the blackness in your mind Keep in touch… Time out something’s wrong I think you’re losing it Been given all of this power you just abusing it This stupid shit is gonna hit you like a ton of bricks So time to switch it up and show you what you’re really screwing with I refuse…. To even listen to your jokes so I’m plottin’ my revenge until they hang me from a rope I’m a strangle I’m a choke ’em makin’ ‘em look until they broken Better take a step back I’m on edge I might snap Another day another play Prepare yourself to fly away Surrender now return from life It’s time to make a sacrifice No other day no other way Those phantom words have blown away There was a girl or was she not? My only memories are shot Another day another life…

Paradox 06:04
I touched her hand and worlds went flashing Vision crashing over on me And from her lips the words like water My passage back from purgatory I know her… A million faces on the platform She went down a step before me Out of time I leapt to save her Engine screaming down upon me Over and over it goes I see her face in the mirror I hear my voice when she talks Paradox…….. it’s a paradox I knew her for a thousand lifetimes The girl that only I could see We fit the pieces of the puzzle Together in eternity Over and over it goes I see her face in the mirror I hear my voice when she talks Paradox…….. she’s a paradox Over and over I know her Over and over I know her Over and over again I see her face in the mirror I hear my voice when she talks It’s a paradox Is she in me? Or am I inside her? One key that fits in two locks It’s a paradox…….. a paradox over and over again over and over again over and over again

Blackout 02:31

All through the night I had a strange dream A fine rain was falling down from my ceiling Now that it’s light I’ve got a feeling Something is coming something I need and One thing is sure I’m gonna soon know Can’t stick around here I’ve got to be gone Walk through the walls pulling my tie on The voice in my head says “time to be leaving” Open my front door what am I seeing? After the rain here comes the rainbow You can take me now far from the ground from all I’ve known Bridge of colored light you lead me on you bring me home Higher I climb lighter my head feels Merge into color my figure surreal She’s waiting for me out in the halo Gone undercover we act like we don’t know After the rain there comes a rainbow You can take me now far from the ground from all I’ve known Bridge of colored light you lead me on you bring me home You can take me now far from the ground from all I’ve known Bridge of colored light you lift me up you lead me home Ready as I’ll be to say goodbye, to sever ties, to let it go Up this shining path I’m glidin’ high, a ray of light, a brilliant glow I’m coming home……..

about

The concept album The View Inside is the result of a collaboration between French guitarist/singer/songwriter Ludovic Briand, French keyboardist/songwriter Julien Boursin, and American lyricist/producer Matt Rohr.

Based on an original story by Ludovic and Matt, the album employs sounds ranging from arena rock, to classic pop, to avant garde in a cinematic sweep as it unfolds the moving and dramatic tale of Walter, an orphan born with a strange oracular power, and the peculiar events that lead him toward his destiny.

Recorded meticulously in the south of France, Paris and Los Angeles over the course of three years, The View Inside features guest performances by an international group of iconic musicians such as Simon Phillips, Vinnie Colaiuta, Gregg Bissonette and Levon Minassian; and rising stars like Nicolas Viccaro and Hadrien Feraud.
